“I encourage any new podcast, or actually, it’s more of a challenge. It’s not encouraging. I challenge you to not look at your metrics for six months at least, at a minimum. And when I tell people this, they’re like, oh my God, why is it because they don’t matter? That’s not what you’re building this for. If you’re building it strictly for download numbers, that’s going to catch up to you because it’s painful in the beginning to look at those numbers, and it can completely derail any effort that you have. I only say this is a flawed metric because a download does not necessarily mean that the true impact of your show was felt by someone listening. Because if you’re subscribed to my podcast, anytime I put new content out, it’s going to automatically filter to your device and you’re going to get a notification saying, that evolution of brand. My podcast has a new episode and this is the title, blah, blah, blah. That doesn’t mean you listen to it, but on my end, I get credit for a download, but I don’t care about that. I care about you listening to this content so you feel the value of the conversation” – Jason Cercone
